Cronin was already coaching UCLA so he did not inherit Juzang. While he did inherit Tyger and Jaime, they could have left when he was hired and he didn’t choose to run them off. Seems to me that he did build the roster of a FF team and a later team that could have been in another FF but for losing the conference DPOY and conference freshman of the year to injury. Last year sucked and he deserves reproach for the results, but he’s 115-53 at UCLA and 68-21 in conference play, plus a conference title, two sweet 16, and that one FF in the four NCAA tournaments played since he started. Whatever that is, it’s not mediocrity.

I really don’t understand why you’re so relentlessly hostile to Cronin. While we won’t know how he will handle this transfer madness next season, there’s no doubt that he’s brought in a lot of players who have proved themselves to be quality players at other programs. At minimum this roster has the talent to compete for the conference title; however, even if he falls short I’m still inclined to cut Cronin some slack because the adjustment to a new conference and the long travel demands could have a greater negative impact than we can foresee. That said, I don’t think some skepticism is unreasonable because Cronin AFAIK has never had to try to juggle so much and his coaching style may not be suited to this.
