I too wish he had a more calmer sideline demeanor. I wish he had a more wide open pressure offensive mindset. But, IMO you are completely off in your estimation that Cronin is not the right guy for UCLA. Cronin wants to win and he wants to win at UCLA. He understands the UCLA culture and appears to appreciate and respect it. I predict, that if he can get this current deep and talented team all on the same page and playing the way he wants them to, his offense will began to open up. If he can do that and win, the kind of players everyone wants to have at UCLA will start to flock to Westwood. And, unlike Howland, I believe Cronin will not abandon the notion of bringing in high character guys. I also think that he gets that he has to tone it down on the sidelines - that his demeanor, although serving him well in the past, is no longer serving him well. I think we will see a process, albeit perhaps slow since change often comes slowly, toward a calmer approach on the sidelines. I think we are already seeing that process at its beginning stages. Besides all of those issues, Cronin is a damn good coach and the play of his teams and the growth of the individuals under his tutelage are testaments to that IMO.
