Not sure this was discussed earlier, but I watched a few videos on the tragic crash that occurred March 22 at LaGuardia Airport runway involving a passenger jet and airport fire truck. Sad the two pilots passed away, so young. A flight attendant was ejected from the plane still strapped to her seat and onto the runway, but lived. All others survived including the fire crew, but some would sustain injuries and taken to the hospital. The fire truck is strong and full of water which helped it at impact. The pilots quickly braked before impact saving lives and minimized injuries. I'm not a pilot, but maybe if possible steered the nose up before impact it would have hit the bottom of the plane where the luggage is and saved their lives. According to reports, the plane was going 90 to 100 mph at the time. I would say the fault lies 60% with the fire truck crew and 40% Air Traffic Controller. The fire crew was cleared to cross, but should have done a visual check too. They should be trained to do visual checks. I do visual checks all the time when the traffic light turns green. They are red light runners. The fire crew were also told to stop a few times by the ATC before the collision. There were less ATCs this night according to interviews. Is this another job cut by DOGE to save money. I understand the weather was a factor this night too with recent rain and fog. The last time an accident occurred at LaGuardian approximate 35 years ago. What ye think?
