True gems that end up at non power 4 and excels are noticed by other top programs too. John Mateer as a perfect example. Kids at those top schools leave for many reasons, top players leave for better NIL or want to be w/ a specific coach/program, some bench players leave because they just don't develop (DJU) but many bench players leave because there's only so much PT to go around.
Kyle McCord is a good qb at OSU but he transferred out because he got blamed for the Michigan losses and was going to lose his job to Will Howard. Syracuse got a great season out of him. It's a stretch to say Power 4 non-starters transfer because they aren't good enough at that level.
