As long as we think it's still 2005 - 2018, we will keep clicking and subscribing. The 247 Sports Ucla Parasite needs fans to continue believing that stars matter and that recruiting is still driven by the cult of the coach.

Recruiting is driven by the twin innovations of NIL and the transfer portal, not by the cult of the coach (or school).
The Parasite's recent recruiting podcast consumes 1 hour and 12 minutes. For the first full 36 minutes and 22 seconds, the two bluffers go on about themselves, how great it was years ago, how different prospects 2025 either arrived at Ucla or went away. NIL is mentioned in passing at that point but the blather spray continues.
Another half hour of 2005 - 2018 era bloviating stumbles on before NIL fundraising is mentioned at the 56 minute, 6 second mark. Nearly an entire hour of crap media from a-hole David Woods before anything resembling thinking occurs. We fans need to start thinking more.
With a beard pulling, sanctimonious tone, Woods wants Ucla to get "aggressive". Not knowing how anything really works, he parades past the need for funds.
Huffman then brings us to where we need to be at all times in this new CFB era when he states, at the 57m 39s mark "You can offset 3 - 9 if your wallet's open". Then he adds "The dollar signs are the only things that are going to determine these recruiting classes anymore".
Read that again.
He adds that you can stink one year and have a Heisman winner the next "if you have the right portal guys", and, "you need the resources to get those guys out of the portal". Hallelujah. So, let's all write this down: HS recruiting isn't top priority anymore because HS recruits can be had later through the portal---if you have the resources. Stars are obsolete (only the 5 stars ever mattered).
And finally, the kill-shot from Huffman at 1h 3m mark "College administrators might be some of the dumbest people". That's us!
We have some of the dumbest people in the sport running our program. Not only did they drive Ucla athletics into bankruptcy, they actually fought NIL when it emerged 5 years ago. As a consequence, we are way behind in NIL funding and have scant financial resources. We can't compete for talent. Ours is not a coaching problem, it's a financial problem.
We have a systems problem here folks, not a cult of the coach problem. Morgan Center is the problem. We need those who drove us into bankruptcy purged and we need a whole new set of leaders who have business talents, not government service rent seeking skills.
We need our media to focus here to raise fan awareness, and awaken fund raising.
