The way I saw it was that Purdue chose their poison. If Bilodeau had missed then everyone would be saying Purdue played that sequence well. But he hit it and now we say that UCLA was the smarter team. The difference between being the "hero" or the smart guy versus the "goat" or dumb guy is often very thin and precarious and perhaps always has a bit of kismet to it. That's just basketball.
