Mick Cronin summed up Saturday's result by noting that we shot 4-28 from three point range. He has often noted that sometimes you have great shooting days and sometimes you have bad ones. He noted in his postgame presser that we shot 42% from three point range in December as a team and we shot 14% Saturday.
His focus on controlling what you can control and what mistakes we made is right.
But also the weaknesses of our lineup - at center and at lead guard - are pretty obvious right now and of course two of our four bigs were out for that game.
But it seems to me he might have summed it all up - in a far more positive manner - had he limited his comments to a single observation:
Progress is not linear.
That was most certainly a winnable game for us and losing as we did was a downer. And imo the challenge we face tomorrow night - just in the two lineups - is far greater than what we faced in Lincoln. But I'll be very disappointed if we don't show up with a lot of energy and high focus. We'll see if that's enough to get the job done against Michigan's twin towers - we will be playing at home at least.
But they gifted us with the step backward on Saturday, Sure would be nice to see us move forward again tomorrow
