He doesn't have a post-up game right now. On the shot he made, he travelled. It didn't get called. And, he is not good at sealing, so there is a passing angle.
We need Mara and having him on the floor helps our D (except when he's hedging).
I've suggested putting him on the block, facing the basket. Nebraska did that with Morgan (their 6'10" bearded guy). And, he got at least 3 baskets off of dribble penetration - collapse - lay it off to Morgan. Two of those passes (maybe all 3) came from Hoiberg. It's not like you need Kevin Johnson as your point guard to make that work.
Mara is making very incremental improvement in his offensive game. I'd say he's inching forward, but this is more like millimetering forward. But, until he can do the skill stuff, let him do the easy stuff. He can contribute offensively just be being on the block, facing the basket, ready to receive. If Sam friggin Hoiberg can draw defenders off their big and make a pass, surely someone on our roster can do the same.
