could be, Fuzzy. But our lack of rim protection is correctable only with time. As in "wait'll next year."
We will badly need Dailey and Kyle tomorrow - with Mara, we're going up against a couple of mature oak trees with a slender tall sapling. And with Bilodeau it's a large shrub against the trees.
Still, Cronin has accomplished a good deal against tall trees without one of his own - our final four team, for example, and more recently the difference between the first and second halves against Gonzaga. One can always hope.
And outside shooting does take days off - Steph Curry isn't the model, he's the ideal - there are a few greats at it but they're in the NBA; all the rest are mere humans hoping to become great. So many of the threes we missed were wide open shots - not the result of defense - the Cornhusker people packed the paint and dared us to force them to adjust with our outside shooting and we came up with a real stinker.
I don't think games in which we shoot 44% from outside are any more typical oi this team than Saturday's 14% was. We do have some solid shooters on this team but I think we're going to wind up the season having hit in the upper 30s, not in the 40s. And we will see more games yet this season similar to our best and our worst so far
