It didn't need to happen. There's no damn way there wasn't enough money in a TV deal for these schools that represent the best quality in the western United States. There always has been. That it was the only power 5 conference that didn't negotiate a long term TV deal is outrageous. There's no reason that should have happened. The football teams are good. It's total bullsh!t.
The country needs these schools to do well. The networks need these schools to do well. It's half the country, it's the majority of the Olympic teams, it's big media markets.
They should have stuck together toughed it out. Negotiated better, lobbied better, threatened better, toughed it out better. It would have worked.
If sc couldn't be convinced to stay, let em go. Get new teams like everybody else did. The deal would come eventually.
