ESPN did a follow up show with interviews and discussions - had Palacios on - nice interview. Anyway, they had two of their analysts do a thing on pitching. First one named three top pitchers (I remember top was Stanford's brilliant pitcher - Canady? something like that - then the other, Smith who - full disclosure - came out of the Pac-12 - named three top staffs, #3 was UCLA because of the two xlnt pitchers - Palacios said the team refers to them as the WWE tag team.
My concern is we don't have that one overwhelming ace, the pitcher you just cannot beat when she's on her stuff. (Stanford's ace is right up there and we've had a lot more than our share for pitchers at that level of excellence.)
I think two is plenty to go all the way. IF one of them is outstanding enough to shut down the very best offenses in the country multiple games even if the opposing pitching is keeping our hitters in check.
Don't think we have such a person this season.
