Watch the video. He changed his path BEFORE the ball was thrown. In that case it's up to the fielder to adjust his position to have a clear throw to the base.

Take this hypothetical situation: A ground ball is hit directly to the first baseman holding the runner on first. The runner has to jump out of the way of getting hit by the ball and goes on to the grass. Then he readjusts his path and goes directly to second base in the regular baseline. The first baseman's throw hits him right in the back. Is that interference? What's the difference?
