Reading more. Slightly less stupid. The 3 Ships with EMALS (one in service, 2 already in construction) will keep it but the fourth ship (and presumably successive ships) of that class are to be redesigned around steam catapults which take up a lot more space and personnel to operate. So at least now the damage appears to be limited to wasting money and delaying construction of at least one much-needed carrier hull.
