At this point, any attempt at more "centrism" simply means "move to the middle right", and the whole point here is that once middle right Republicans lost their party to the far right, they've been on a campaign, fully adopted and embraced by the Democratic establishment, to turn the Democratic Party into the classic Republican Party without MAGA and without the "blue haired granola eating lesbian left".
I think they will succeed in the next couple of election cycles because they are damn determined to get there.
I'm guessing the left, the progressive wing, whatever you might want to call them, is getting ready to jump ship. Hopefully they will coalesce around some democratic socialist party fairly quickly without getting further fractured.
I betcha the 2024 post mortem report that they will not make public does NOT say that Harris should have campaigned more with Liz Cheney.
