Parachute drops are increasingly relegated to history. Airborne troops more likely to be inserted by helicopters or VSTOL aircraft and can be withdrawn the same way. Main reason the 82nd has been deployed is because it has a combat team that can be deployed to a foreign airbase with it equipment in short time.
