Ya, for some reason WYWH is, for me, a good, not great album. This is only my opinion.

I'm just not a fan of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. My loss.

Not long after Pompeii came out, it turned up on our local movie pay channel. I was maybe 11? I tried to watch it at a time when my parents were going to be busy, just so 1) I had a chance to get through it w/o them saying "turn that off." 2) I could judge for myself, w/o having to debate them. But, being the good parents they were, a few minutes into it, they sat down and watched it with me. I watched it, expecting them to say "turn it off" at any minute. They warriored through, to their credit. There's one section, I guess during Echoes, where I was thinking "this isn't even music, surely they're going to turn it off now." But, nope, we sat there in tense silence through the squawks and squeeks, looking at Roman statuary and bubbling mud holes. But, as you say, the Pompei Echoes is fantastic. They hit such a groove. And, being a huge fan of Rick Wright's playing, it's fun to see him singing along with Gilmour.
