You just Google search the words you remember along with the phrase "bruinzone". I just recalled the basic words about trading for their OL.
I don't think any investment in this team turned out to be worth it. But I still think Nico gave us the best chance this year. Though maybe I was wrong and Joey Aguilar gave us the best chance. In any event, I do not for one second believe that Justyn Martin gave us the best chance.
I don't understand what you're asserting in your second paragraph. It seems to be working out for Tennessee. My opinion, though is that UT and UCLA would be in much the same spots they are now if they had not made the trade. Heupel is a good coach; UT has a good base of talent. Foster is a terrible coach and UCLA has poor talent.
My opinion on the Nico situation is that Nico's dad wanted more money. And once he left, UCLA was way down on their list of destinations, like a safety school. It seems to be turning out badly for him, but I still think Nico will play in the NFL, and Joey Aguilar (and Justyn Martin) will not. It's not working but, IMO it was worth the shot. You may disagree but I'm still pretty high on Nico's talent level. I also don't think it's a done deal that he won't be our QB next year.
Also, what did the investment in Nico really cost the program? Even if you personally didn't want to, UCLA was going to pay Joey Aguilar anyway. And Nico committed to us in April, so it's not like we were going to use that money to buy a bunch of good linemen at that late hour.
In any event, if we'd known what DF had in store for us, we wouldn't even have worried about where the money went or who the QB was. Because it was hopeless from the jump.
