These are far greater threats to the CFB model as we now know it than is NIL or revenue sharing.
Alas, our beloved Bruins have sunk into the bottom half of the sport, a dangerous position during a time of consolidation, as now.
Ucla has rendered the Bruins to be irrelevant and has set them on a course to extinction in time, maybe 10 - 20 years. Ucla is ill-suited to manage the Bruins in contemporary CFB as NCAA paternity melts away and business economics ascends. A $160mm debtor in possession financing to keep them operating is tangible proof of this disability.
Ucla employees can't independently generate revenue. They lack the ability to commercialize the incomparable Bruins. Recognize that Ucla is not a commercial enterprise but, to its chagrin, now finds itself competing in a commercial world. This is a permanent disability so long as state government employees are in charge. It's likely too late.
Freeing the Bruins from Ucla by outsourcing their management and adding a corporate sponsor are possible course correcting solutions, but Ucla employees will be the last bureaucracy to surrender to this new structure. There are too many rich salaries and pensions that the Mighty Bruins are chained to.
Permanent laggard.
