I meant that the tax for athletes was the same as for everyone else in a given jurisdiction/state.
What I meant was that the token thing they do is not playing, which is subject to the jock tax. So you could take a trip to Nevada, say, do the token thing there, and then it could be taxed as Nevada income (i.e. no state tax) rather than based on your home state. I have no idea whether they do this or not or if it's even feasible.
