Nadal was the crown jewel and gets remembered for the rivalries with Federer and Djokovic.

I think where tennis just hit the upper levels was because of clay courts forcing those to hit the extra shots. There were so many Spanish players in particular that I think elevated the sport with the long rallies, athleticism, stamina, and mental toughness. I think those levels not only created a Nadal, but forced everyone including the women to raise their levels.

Why I thought the Americans struggled so long. Most courts are hard courts and points typically ended quicker.
