Many years ago, one of the regulars in our noon time pickup basketball game in Pauley Pavilion was a former UCLA football player who was now on the athletic training staff. He had just worked the annual pro tennis tournament on campus. He told us something I never forgot. He said that the best tennis players were those who had played and been coached since they were young kids, but when real athletes get into the game, it will be a lot different. And that's exactly what happened.
