I can't go with the conspiracy theory that he did it on purpose, but I do just find it really strange. Chip never forgot how to scheme, and surely he has always known he needs good players to win. Why he didn't do more to get the talent he needed will always baffle me. I guess the answer lies deep within his complex personality.
