I think your criteria is a bad starting point. Cheap and at lesser programs is not a good way to conduct a search. My criteria included innovative coaches who are under the radar. Specifically, I focused on inventive offensive minds. I vastly prefer head coaching experience, however, I’d definitely look at someone who was an OC at a high level program who had demonstrated offensive innovation. Think Chip at Oregon, Lebby, Brady, etc.
Instead we wound up with someone who had zero experience being a head coach or even a coordinator. What a fcuking joke.
