The death of linear broadcasting is due to the arrival of streaming (Netflix,e. g.). This isn't an extinction event for all 125 CFB teams. The top 40ish will form NFL, Jr. and play for the big prizes because they'll have sizable streaming audiences, a decent budget and the ability to buy top talent. tOSU, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. will all live into the new world in some manner. Private equity may be shareholders in the teams by that point.

The also-rans will not live into the new world order. They will not have large streaming audiences and will not have the revenue to support D1 CFB along with their host of other programs. The also-rans that choose to will form something like the WAC of today. All will have shoestring budgets and will compete with more truly amateur athletes for smaller prizes.

Ucla is on the bubble. Will they joing NFL, Jr. or the WAC in ten years? A lot will depend on how Morgan Center manages the program. So far, the Jarmond regime has failed. They didn't respond to NIL and are now well behind the leading programs that did pounce on the NIL era. Whatever you think of Chip, they bungled the end of his contract last year resulting in a desperation hire at head coach.

Jarmond and Morgan Center look likely to be left for dead in ten years as the money support from linear cable falls away. Bringing in a private equity sponsor looks inevitable, but even then Ucla football may fall into the WAC ranks eventually.

Jarmond and Morgan Center don't appear competent to run a lemonade stand, let alone a thriving CFB franchise.

Fans here and throughout the Bruin world need to redirect their thinking away from star ranks and coaches and toward a vocal critique of Morgan Center. We'll need better than what we have now which has given us 24 years of nothingness from what was once a mighty football program. Complete managerial incompetence.
