Had a major culture change. Spanos as DC had Ucla known as the new LB U. Had Myles Jack making nation news. The wheels sure seemed in motion. Spanos leaves and Ulbrich takes over. Still seemed like heading in right direction.

Then the embarrassing argument on the sidelines in the Oregon game. Then the off season, Ucla is on the verge of signing arguably the best class ever and stealing a huge Georgia player only to be embarrassed again to find out Ulbrich was heading to the NFL a couple days later and losing that recruit plus a couple others. And then the spiral leading to a HC who checked out.

That was the tougher pill for me to swallow in the long run. Even after the 98 season, Toledo had strung together back to back wins against Michigan and Alabama 2-3 years later, which felt like Ucla could elevate back.
