That said, the number of negative posts about Cronin has definitely increased. I think you can reasonably argue that reflects a growing sense of frustration among at least a segment of the fan base.
This is purely anecdotal, and I know my experience isn't necessarily representative of all UCLA fans, but in my own circle I have a lot of friends and family who follow the Bruins closely. I mentioned last year that about 20 of us went to the UCLA-Arizona game at Intuit. As far as I know, none of them post on message boards like this. Even so, many of them have become disillusioned with Cronin. On the flip side, almost all of them are excited about the Chesney hire. So while I agree it's easy to overreact to the opinions expressed on these boards, I also think they can provide a decent pulse on how at least part of the fan base is feeling.
One point I made in my response to ej is that most casual fans couldn't care less about the kinds of things we debate here, like Cronin's demeanor or interactions with the media. They care about wins and losses. That's been my experience, anyway. Most of the people posting on these boards are much more invested in the program than the average fan.
