When Howland got hired my friend said that is was just a matter of time before his arrogance and off-putting behavior will do him in. I think my friend was prescient with that one. IMO Howland was done in by his own personality. The various reasons for his downfall IMO stemmed from his demeanor. He just alienated too many people all across the board. His style of play was acceptable as long as he was winning. Cronin, on the other hand, is another animal altogether. By most accounts Cronin can be very charming even though sometimes he publicly comes off as boorish. Cronin brought in decent high school players, good solid transfers, and the top rated Euro. What Cronin needs to do is win more. He often says that some of his players just need to play better. Well, he needs to win more. More wins will cure a lot of the reasons for disgruntlement from some sectors. Not winning more will probably spell the end of Cronin's UCLA run. I think it's that simple.
