The huge salaries are, but coaches have been making promises to recruits for as long as I can remember.
"You will start."
"You will play a minimum number of minutes."
"I will feature you in the offense."
"I will run the offensive system you like."
Now there are new promises:
"I will guarantee that this group of your friends will be admitted to our university, and you deal will cover their tuition."
