Although some people still question Mara’s account, he’s been fairly consistent in what he’s said from the start. Early reports from BRO seemed to cast him in a negative light for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, but it appears his main frustration was not getting enough playing time—which many of us felt at the time as well. It may be as simple as that.
If the reports from the other side are accurate, then it’s clear those individuals experienced the situation differently than Mara did. As someone mentioned earlier, two people can walk away from the same situation with very different interpretations based on their own perspectives.
From my standpoint as a complete outsider, it seems possible that Cronin—and perhaps his staff—misread where Mara was mentally. Whether that was due to Mara not fully communicating, cultural differences, arrogance, or simply a misjudgment on their part is hard to say.
