Just to second what everyone's been saying: a great game, best in quite awhile now. Yes to NY's comments on Bilodeau's shooting mechanics - absolutely. But also see Fuzzy's post below - play of the game was made by the bald guy on the sideline - that time out with us trailing by 12 points and Purdue having its way with us on offense.
Feels like the long timeout (halftime) of the women's team's game against Texas. Everything changed for them from that time on. Everything changed for the men last night during and after that time out by Mick Cronin.
Up to then it felt like we were mechanically going through a game plan and in the process we were cheating toward the paint on the weak side on defense, leaving the weakside outside shooter wide open, our defender unable to get back. And Purdue is much too good and disciplined an offense to miss exploiting that. It felt like we were establishing a wall to try to keep them from penetrating all the way to the hoop against us and they were simply shooting over us. After that time out we closed the distance and engaged and were at least more aware of the weak side skip pass.
For the women's team halftime vs Texas ignited the season - ongoing. That was a massive effort by all concerned. We can only hope it's a blueprint going forward now and they can continue to play like that without wearing down.
Most fun game in so long....
