A popular opinion is that players under Mick play tight, afraid of getting yanked after the first mistake with a subsequent madfaced spittle spraydown.
Telling them to relax probably helped. I'm wondering if he also told them that there was almost nothing they could do that could get themselves yanked. They were going to play and play and play. The starters average 36 minutes. I'm guessing he didn't say that - but maybe he did in the pre-game? Would not be surprising if he said "be ready to play a ton of minutes tonight"
