NIL has spread like wildfire and it's good intentions have to be extinguished.
I always enjoyed college sports because these were the ones trying to get to the next level. Now, they are getting paid like they are on the next level.
When the idea of paying college athletes first appeared, many of us assumed that each athlete would receive maybe $1,000 a month for necessities and assumed loyalty.
Today, it's show me the money or I'll move on to the next highest bidder.
Back in the day, I was given two advantages:
1.a $50 grant for books
2.I was allowed to enroll for classes a day before the general student population so all my classes were before noon.
That was it. Nothing more.
Maybe women's college golf might be something to start watching. I like the shorts.
