Yeah, I pretty much agree—I’ve been saying the same thing all season as well.
I’m not sure Mara will dominate college basketball; it depends on where he lands. But I do know he would have been better than he was this year here. Even with the hedging and misuse, he still would have blocked shots and gotten touches. If nothing else, Cronin does make a point to feed the post.
That said, there are players out there who fit Cronin’s system better than Mara. He still has a chance to bring in a couple of really athletic guys to complement his scorers. Dent, Bilodeau, Dailey, and Clark can all put up points, but Bilodeau and Dailey aren’t great defenders. We need more size and athleticism inside, and Mara didn’t fit that mold. Cronin still has an opportunity to put a strong team on the floor.
I’ll hold off on final judgment until the season plays out, but I’m closer than ever to thinking it might be time for a coaching change
