The three they love are all great scorers and all around players - one each from UConn, SC and Notre Dame. But turning a blind eye to the dominant player on the nation's top ranked team, especially when she is the dominant post in the nation, they have their blinders firmly in place.
Those are great players but the award is NOT for the best individual all around athlete and player, it's for the Player of the Year in Women's college basketball. Those three are excellent but you put Lauren Betts out there and she changes the entire game at both ends of the court.
When Jaylen Clark was NPOY for us a couple years ago opposing coaches noted he took away half the court for them - they didn't dare run their offense on his side of the court. When Lauren is out there, she takes away the entire paint area - and any easy baskets in the half court.
Not saying she has to win the award, but not mentioning her as a legitimate POY candidate is insulting and absurd
