I remember that Lindy's and Athlon would come out early

every season. I would usually wait for The Sporting News edition before I would buy. Earlier than that I would wait for Sports Illustrated's college basketball edition. The gold standard back then was Street and Smith which usually came out after everyone else. To my tastes The Sporting News eventually overtook Street and Smith as my go to magazine. I used to like Street and Smith's high school basketball survey where they rated all the nation's high school stars and teams. I haven't bought a basketball magazine longer than I can remember. They've kind of gone the way of newspapers. It seems like another time when I couldn't imagine Sundays without the NY Times, the daily LA Times, and pouring over multiple college basketball magazines every fall.
