than yes a box and one could put a damper on your opponent's offensive effectiveness. I don't have a lot of experience running that type of offense, (as a coach we sort of did it once in the state playoffs when we were over matched with a man to man and our one guy sticking to their star, not helping at all. It worked even though we lost the game in the closing moments) but the main principle is to keep the integrity (mostly) of the box no matter where the ball is on the floor. There may be a temptation to cheat out a bit toward the three point line, but if that happens then the middle of the zone becomes vulnerable. One of the weaknesses of a box and 1 is defending the three point line. Until your opponent demonstrates they can hit a consistent three then you just have to leave them out there for possible open looks and stay home and protect the key area.
