… the season 3-1 (including a blowout of a team in the “playoffs” that had beaten us handily in the opening day game. My only point is that if you’re patient and consistent, it can catch on.

One thing I emphasized in practice (and it took - might not always - is that you pass to the open man, not your friend, not always the best guy. And while I was limited by league rule regarding PT, I could play guys in positions they liked or disliked. And the kids who were usually considered “less than” worked their tails off With a little discipline, the concept caught.

IT was my favorite season (3-7), and that included an undefeated team I coached one year. Probably the worst kid on our team broke after we rebounded and averaged over 2 ppg (I think he’d never scored in previous seasons). And probably our 2nd to worst kid won us a game. Down by 1 with 7 seconds left and taking it in at the baseline, we had two great passes including this kid breaking to the basket. We hit him on a dime and he scored a layup as the clock hit zero. Probably one of the best days of his life.
