Why are you assuming that Bona would get a 2-way contract? I already explained that the early 2nd round picks get very good deals. Do the research like I did. Every one of the 2nd round picks up to 40th got those 4-year deals for up to $7.6 million. The 41st pick, Amari Bailey, got a 2-way because he had little track record and was so young and because a cheap-ass team drafted him. Your whole premise is wrong.

The NBA favors the young players. Look at the lottery picks the last few years. Almost all are one-and-dones. They have more potential than players who have been in school longer and are closer to their ceiling. Jaquez was a rare exception. Knecht stayed in school because he wasn't a highly rated pro prospect until his last season. For every Jaquez here are dozens who stay in school and do not improve their draft position.

Fouling won't be a problem. He won't get starters minutes and you get six fouls. The pro game is also officiated differently and he won't be called for those marginal fouls. Do you honestly think in one more college season he'll become a good shooter away from the basket? It won't matter. There is no more mid-range game. Big men shoot threes now. All the 2nd rounders have weaknesses in their game. They can improve playing and practicing against pros every day rather than the limited time they get in college.

A dozen or more kids who just graduated high school will get drafted next year before any current college player. That's the way it works now. Staying in school is not a good option for anyone who is guaranteed getting picked, even in the 2nd round.
