...the next lawsuit from the players and/or their eventual union, or in bargaining sessions, the players argue that they should essentially BE "free agents" who can move around at will. Or, perhaps, that schools should be permitted to effect trades, up to a designated trading deadline ala pro sports. It sure looks like this scenario is reasonable, given where things are apparently heading.
