thinking about tonight's final Pac-12 championship game with conference elite UCLA vs defending Pac-12 champ Utah, seems to me this might be a year too soon for us in the pitching department but the very peak of one of our great cycles of hitters.

Next year we add the nation's top HS pitching prospect as a freshman, Terry will be a sophomore and Tinsley a junior - that should be among the very best rotations in the country.

However - this should be (I really am not aware of how - if at all - covid rules allowing for an extra year of eligibility at least in FB and basketball affect players in the non revenue sports.

Anyway: RS seniors on this include Brady, Meono, Curo, Palacios and Allchin is a graduate student. We'll still have a solid lineup next year but without those players, won't be quite the same.

Unless Terry can get some rest and recover and Tinsley's tendonitis can be kept at bay, this might be a case of two cycles - hitting and pitching - not quite being 100% aligned as we end the Pac-12 era and the current year.

Remains to be seen. But my point is it is well worth seeing. You get the core of a future national top pitching staff and the final conference game for Bruin softball greats Brady and Palacios, too.

Combine that with the national semi-finals in women's water polo featuring what has a chance to stand among the sport's all time great teams as UCLA carries a 24-0 record into the fray, having taken on and defeated just about all the nation's best other teams. Two more wins to history!

Great day for UCLA Other Sports today
