But at some point in the future, it could happen.

If Musk were to somehow acquire MSNBC, the channel would immediately lose most of its audience and its value would plummet... but that wouldn't mean anything to the world's richest man, now would it? Instead, acquiring MSNBC would neatly serve Musk's purpose, which is to expand his point of view and muzzle an opposing one.
