are the excuse and the goal is deny birthright citizenship to any child whose parents were not US citizens whether the parent was in the country legally or not, i.e., limiting birthright citizenship to blood only. So blood, but not soil, I guess?
My sister was born in the US and was a US citizenship until she bailed out (she's a Norwegian citizen now) and she was told that her children did not qualify as US citizens because she never lived in the US.
A detail I was not aware of until she told me that part of the story.
