Preemptive surrender

That's the key component not only on the right's response to Putin in Ukraine and whoever he wishes to invade next, but also the supposed institutional guardians of the established order.

I am seeing on twitter that prosecutors in Manhattan are closing shop, ending their cases, maybe even leaving office, Joe and Mika going down to MAL to kiss the ring... The normalization of a would be autocrat began even before he took office.

Standing up there and preaching bravery and pretending to speak truth to power is easy when the stakes are low and there isn't a whole lot to lose. You know whether you truly had any convictions in the first place as opposed to just being mere posers when power shows its ugly face and stares you down (for the record, never watched the Morning Joe show, never had any affinity towards the hosts, they don't even register on my radar in my daily life).

I am not advocating anyone to suffer unnecessarily under what's coming, but forgodssakes don't scurry away and hide behind the couch before there is even an initial contact. Fold if you will, and folding temporarily may be a smart long term strategic move in some cases, but for godssakes, at least stand there and take the first blow. If you're going to break, break on impact, not at mere sight.

Home of the brave, my a$$.

Ironically these are the same kind of people who kept telling the world for decades that all one had to do overturn a dictatorship and let democracy triumph was to have the courage to stand against a dictator? Brave words when your a$$ is not on the line.

I wish I could say I was surprised by this trend, but I am not. This is how things go when it gets real and what we're seieng is just the beginning.
