Her Ultra season 1 (podcast) was focused on the rise of the Nazi movement in the US as the Nazi Party was rising to power in Germany. That was also a fascinating experience exposing some of the roots of and alignments behind the US nazi movement over the decades. Lots of America First movement stuff.

Season 2 focuses on the period after WWII, when the US nazi moevement is trying to regroup, begin their historical revisionism, including a newly budding holocaust denialism. It has senators Lester Hunt and Joe McCarthy as more or less the central figures, but there is also a rich cast of characters, a lot of whom I wsa not aware of before, including Francis Parker Yockey ... what a character.

She never has to spell out the similarities with what is going on, and she does not need to. It's all so clear. McCarthy's bluster, habitual lying, and his ability to increase his public support by getting more and more aggressive and belligerent he gets and more lives he destroys. If you thought the fake elector scheme and the idea of stealing the election at the electoral college level by having states send their own set of delegates was a modern invention, like I did, you will find out that there's nothing original there, and the idea was first proposed as a way to get McCarthy elected president in the 1956 election (or was it 60? or both? All of a sudden I am not sure).

So it's like Battlestar Galactica thing: whatever happens now, happened before. And season 2 is that before.

I learned a lot about the American nazi movement in that series. Highly recommended.
