A 2025 peer-reviewed study found Republicans were less likely to report seeking mental-health help than Democrats.
Another study found that rates of positive depression screening were not significantly different between Republicans and Democrats, but Republicans were less likely to have received mental-health treatment in the prior year.
In that study, among people screening positive for depression, 73.9% of Republicans had unmet mental-health-care needs, compared with 58.9% of Democrats and 58.0% of independents.
