More Perfect Union has a new video on him calling him the most dangerous man in Silicon Valley.He wrote a manifesto in 2023 about what he wanted the future to look like where he complained about things like safety and limits on the free market and capitalism.
As they point out in the video, if you look, Andreesen became rich because he founded a company called Netscape that basically stole employees from Mosaic and they then created the Netscape web browser. At a certaing point Microsoft made Internet Explorer and were going to make it a literal part of windows, not a standalone browser. Netscape went to the DOJ, led by Andreesen and said that's no fair, it's a monopoly they will force all the other browsers out of business, Windows is the dominant OS in the world if Internet Explorer is part of windows, we will all go bankrupt.
The DOJ sided with Netscape, blocked Microsoft from doing it, and Andreesen got rich. AOL bought Netscape for 4.2 billion, Andeesen who already made well over 100 million from the Netscape IPO, got another 100 million from the deal. He then founded a fund with Ben Horowitz and is now a billionaire.
And literall in his manifesto he complains about the very thing that made him rich, the government intervening in capitalism to protect Netscape from Microsoft.
