I'd like to think that they are looking for someone genuine

and someone who's not gonna keep telling them that the system works just fine and all we need is a little tweak here and there and what doesn't work is broken by Republicans in the first place. I think younger voters are much more clear eyed on what they're up against than the older generations give them credit for. So the lines that used to work on the older generations about working hard or the arc of history crap or the virues of capitalism crap, i.e., all that foundational American narrative, will most certainly not work on them at all.

I don't think they're looking for a perfect candidate but a candidate who agrees with them on the basic assessment of the reality of living in the US in the year of 2026. And having convictions. And a vision. These are also the areas where the Democratic Party establishment has been failing miserably.

Come to think about it, are they looking for anything other than what you or anyone else who grew up in the US wanted to see from the politicians of their own era who were fully out of touch with the shifting realities that the country was going through at the time?
