My questions are more focused on the people who support him. Not the out-and-out racists - they are beyond reason.
But what about the "reasonable" Trump supporters? Clearly, they do not see Trump is a mean moron (as I do). Instead, they see him as a paragon of virtue. Incredible... unbelievable... but that's exactly what's happening. A nice, little old lady Trump supporter recently told me with great pride "I get my news from other sources than you do, and I know the real truth!"
On the other hand, I suspect that some Trump supporters understand what he is, but they are willing to overlook his faults because they see something in him that they like (such as lower taxes for the wealthy, or perhaps an abortion ban, or reduced government oversight of business practices, etc.). But how many compromises on basic decency can these people accept - is there no limit?
Last comment: a friend recently shared his theory that a lot of people despise Trump but are afraid to speak out about him in public. These people will never show up in the polls, but they could go for Harris in big numbers in the secrecy of the polling booth...
