I don't take generic ballots too seriously.

Once you put a name and a target to a candidate, they always do worse.

That being said, while the aggregators say we are at a D+5, the actual elections the Dems have done much better in the special elections.

+11 in elections since 2026
+13 in elections since 2025

I'm guessing that GOPers vote in special elections less than midterms but that is a hopeful stat that I tend to believe more than generic ballot numbers.
