Legal questions surrounding Prop 50 Commission

I've seen some discussion on twitter on Prop 50. Some were predicting based on a recent Supreme Court ruling that it was illegal. Even an old voice on Bruin boards known as Shipwreckedcrew chimed in (he's actually a MAGA hack online).

Since we have some legal minds on this board one thing I've been wondering about .. if Prop 50 is supposedly "illegal" due to race being used for districting, why isn't the commission map also illegal for the same reason? That is, some are claiming "they will go back to the commission map" which seems like an irrational "solution" to the "problem".

And does this mean the entire redistricting commission is illegal, since they use ethnicity and "communities of interest" to draw maps?

Also, I don't see how the commission could redraw a map for 2028 - doesn't it only meet once a decade?
